"Don't reinvent the wheel." – This timeless idiom was the most resonant advice I received as I began my journey through Chapel Hill.
My father stressed this notion, that amidst the fears of professional misguide and social eccentricity, two principles would guide my early experiences.
(1) Firstly, he advised that I lean on those who came before me. To not reinvent the wheel is to learn from the successes and the failures of those in recent past. To take advantage of the resources hiding in plain sight. Amongst the many corners of Carolina, DDS revealed itself to me as an aggregate of gems.
By engaging with DDS meetings, socials, service events, and conferences – all curated and iterated through past trials and adjustments – I began to understand why dentistry is a good fit for my interests and values. Dentistry then became a compass through Carolina, guiding me through each page in my undergraduate chapter.
(2) Secondly, my father ensured that every new college student shared similar sentiments regarding belonging. Those who embrace this collective uncertainty find solace in it, and they become fearless in putting themselves into the public gaze.
Rushing DDS was a manifestation of my search for community, and moving through DDS leadership has brought some of my best friends and most memorable experiences at Carolina. At DDS, combining professional development with social furthering is the mission, not a convenient byproduct. Because UNC students should not be burdened with reinventing pre-dentistry – we should find solace in relearning and building on its history as a collective.
I am honored to build what it means to study pre-dentistry, and I am excited to bear the responsibility of DDS President alongside an exceptional board of executives. I invite you to explore the opportunities we have to offer, and I hope you can find community at Carolina through UNC Delta Delta Sigma.

To prepare and support pre-dental students through professional development, service, mentorship, and community — while fostering the future leaders of dentistry.
Guiding students from pre-dental ambition to professional success.
Five pillars guide everything Delta Delta Sigma does for its members and the Carolina community.

Supporting members with the resources, guidance, and a 3.0+ GPA community to excel in their coursework and beyond.

Providing opportunities to grow, learn, and build our future through seminars and connections in the dental field.

Making a positive impact in our community by volunteering within the dental field and the community at large.

Guiding and uplifting each member on their journey to dental school, every step of the way.

Building lifelong connections and a strong DDS family that lasts well beyond graduation.
Each pillar is a program, not a promise. Here is what living them actually looks like inside DDS.
Course roadmaps, DAT cohorts & a 3.0+ GPA community.
Get Involved →Dentistry starts in the classroom. DDS pairs members with course roadmaps, exam archives, and study groups that turn Carolina's toughest prerequisites into a shared project instead of a solo grind.
Seminars, shadowing & conferences across the dental field.
Get Involved →From guest lecturers to shadowing placements, members meet dentistry where it happens. Seminars with the UNC Adams School of Dentistry put specialties, admissions, and real casework in front of you before you ever apply.
Tracked service points & annual chapter honors.
Get Involved →Service is tracked, celebrated, and constant. Members volunteer in dental clinics and across the Chapel Hill community, logging hours through the chapter points system and earning recognition at year's end.
Big–little families & application reviews, every rush class.
Get Involved →Every rushee joins a big–little family. Upperclassmen review applications, run mock interviews, and hand down what worked — so no member reinvents the road to dental school alone.
Formals, DDS families & friendships beyond graduation.
Get Involved →Formals, socials, DDS families, intramurals — the professional network doubles as a friend group. The people you rush with are the people who show up at your white coat ceremony.

When you join DDS you don't just get a chapter — you get a family. Every new member is paired with a big: an upperclassman mentor who has already walked the road to dental school. Bigs hand down notes, introductions, and hard-won advice; littles keep the line going. Pick a family below to trace its tree.
Every member gets a big. Every big was once a little.
